Fernando Martínez Castillejo. Licenciado en Ciencias Químicas, Universidad Complutense de Madrid en 1997. Doctor en Ciencias Químicas, Universidad Complutense de Madrid en 2003. Realizó su Tesis Doctoral en el desarrollo de procesos catalíticos avanzados para la degradación de contaminantes en aguas residuales. En septiembre de 2001 se incorpora al Departamento de Tecnología Química y Ambiental de la ESCET en la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos y en Febrero de 2009 obtuvo su plaza de Profesor Titular a Tiempo Completo. Desde 2001 ha desarrollado su actividad docente en el área de Ingeniería Química impartiendo diferentes asignaturas de titulaciones de grado y postgrado. Ha realizado diversas estancias en centros nacionales e internacionales como la Universidad Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona), Universidad de Manchester (Reino Unido) y Santa Bárbara (EE.UU) bajo la supervisión de los profesores Frank Stüber, Ian Metcalfe y Galen D. Stucky. Sus líneas de investigación se han centrado la preparación y caracterización de catalizadores soportados sobre materiales zeolíticos y mesoporosos con aplicación en procesos de oxidación avanzada de aguas residuales y procesos de química fina, así como materiales porosos organometálicos (MOFs) para la captura selectiva de CO2. Es autor de más de 25 artículos en revistas científicas internacionales de elevado índice de impacto en el campo de la preparación de catalizadores y aplicaciones en diferentes procesos catalíticos. Ha sido investigador en más de 10 proyectos de investigación financiados con fondos públicos y privados. También es Responsable de Calidad del Laboratorio de Técnicas espectroscópicas (LABTE) del Departamento de Tecnología Química y Ambiental de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos y acreditado por ENAC.

    Resumen : The MOTREM project is a Water JPI project that focuses on the development of integrated processes for monitoring and treatment of emerging contaminants (ECs), improving the efficiency of the removal of these pollutants in urban wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), especially for water reuse. The project aims to provide new technologies for water treatment and/or improving the existing ones through the development of integrated processes for monitoring and treatment of ECs in the current waterline of municipal wastewater treatment plants, especially focusing on the aspect of water reuse. For this goal, the project combines cross- and multi-disciplinary expertise on water treatment processes design and engineering, analytical chemistry and ecotoxicology applied to ECs that guarantee the generation not only on new scientific knowledge but also of innovative commercial solutions to the market.
