Chemical and Environmental Engineering Group

Juan José Espada studied Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1994-1999) and received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering by the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2000-2005) working on the development of new characterization methods of petroleum fractions and new models to simulate refining process related to lubricant oil cuts. He has been assistant professor for 8 years in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Technology at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and since 2008 he occupies a position as lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Energy Technology. He completed a first post-doctoral research visit in the group of Professor João A. P. Coutinho at the Aveiro University in 2006 about the separation and characterization of waxes precipitated from crude oils. Additionally, he was as post-doctoral research visitant in the group of Professor Jean-Luc Daridon at the Pau University studying wax precipitation at high pressure. Nowadays, his main research interests are focused on flow assurance problems concerning wax deposition in crude oils and on the application of Life Cycle Assessment tools to hydrogen production processes.
