Rubén Morón Asensio holds a Bachelor´s degree in Biology from the University of Alcalá de Henares (2016), during which he did an Erasmus internship in the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany). For his degree´s thesis, he was part of the Molecular Ecology Group at the Center of Astrobiology (CAB/INTA-CSIC) at Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid, Spain) where we studied through metagenomic techniques the bacterial communities in the rhizosphere of Salicornia spp. plants, screening for salt resistance genes in those bacteria.
In 2017, he was selected as research assistant in Applied Biology group of the University of Almería, within a project to genetically improve edible crops of Solanaceae. In 2018, Rubén completed his Master studies in Industrial and Agroalimentary Biotechnology and for his Master Thesis I worked in the morphogenetical identification and characterization of new species of microalgae with biotechnological potential from the acidic and metallic waters of Riotinto (Huelva, Spain).
Nowadays, he is working as predoctoral researcher in the application of microalgae cultures for biofuels production and the extraction of value-added products.
