Carolina Vargas Fernández received her BSc and MSc in Organic Chemistry in 1999 at the Complutense University of Madrid and her PhD in 2005 (Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid). From 2000 to 2005 she had worked as assistant lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the Rey Juan Carlos University obtaining her PhD with a thesis work on heterogeneization of Mn(salen) catalysts over mesostructured silica for Fine Chemistry reactions. In 2003 she did pre-doctoral research work at CNRS in Montpellier (France) under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Brunel, and during 2006 she did post-doctoral research work in Green Chemistry Group at The University of York (UK). Since 2007 she has been working as a lecturer of the Chemical and Environmental Technology Department at the Rey Juan Carlos University, up to date. Her main research lines are focused on the synthesis, characterization and catalytic application in Fine Chemistry processes of chiral catalysts immobilized in organically-functionalized mesostructured materials and nanozeolites with different structures.
