Grupo de Ingeniería Química y Ambiental

Gabriel Morales Sánchez es Ingeniero Químico por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2000) y Doctor por la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2005, Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado). Su trayectoria docente se ha desarrollado en Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, comenzando como Ayudante de Escuela Universitaria (2000-2005), Profesor Ayudante Doctor (2005-2008), Profesor Contratado Doctor (2008-2013) y Profesor Titular (desde 2013 hasta la actualidad) del Departamento de Tecnología Química y Ambiental. Su docencia se distribuye entre los diversos títulos de grado y máster de ingeniería de la Escuela Superior de Ciencias Experimentales y Tecnología (ESCET): Grado en Ingeniería Química, Grado en Ingeniería Ambiental, Grado en Ingeniería de Tecnologías Industriales, Grado en Ingeniería de la Energía, Grado en Ciencias Ambientales, Máster en Ingeniería Química, Máster en Ingeniería Industrial En cuanto a su trayectoria investigadora, su tesis doctoral se centró en la preparación de materiales mesoestructurados funcionalizados con grupos sulfónicos y en su aplicación a reacciones de Química Fina. Ha sido investigador visitante en el Department of Chemical Engineering de la Universidad de California en Santa Barbara (EE.UU.) en los años 2004 (predoctoral) y 2006 (postdoctoral) bajo la supervisión del Prof. Brad F. Chmelka; y en el Department of Applied Chemistry de la Universidad de Strathclyde en Glasgow (Reino Unido) en el año 2007 bajo la supervisión del Prof. Peter Cormack. Sus líneas de investigación se centran en la síntesis, caracterización y aplicación catalítica de materiales mesoestructurados funcionalizados, la inmovilización de enzimas en materiales mesoporosos, la transformación de glicerina en aditivos oxigenados para combustibles y, más recientemente, la producción de biodiésel, y la valorización química de biomasa lignocelulósica mediante catalizadores ácidos heterogéneos. En 2007 recibió el premio Tesis Doctoral del año 2005 otorgado por la Sociedad Española de Catálisis.Es autor de más de 60 artículos en revistas internacionales indexados en JCR, con un índice h de 28 (junio de 2018).
